The creative force behind Marion Lane Candles - and often referred to as "Marion" - Connie began making
candles and experimenting with wax formulas in the basement of her home.
Connie has a passion for providing products that invoke fabulous memories through fragrance. This type of
"aroma-chology" has proved very beneficial to Marion Lane Candles. A day doesn't go by when we hear the
resounding comments: "This scent reminds me of .... growing up - it takes me back to Grandma's house when
she would ..." This is what Marion Lane Candles is all about. Feeding the emotional sensories through scent. It's
a feel good thing!
Connie is originally from Peoria, Illinois and has been in Kansas for ten years. She has developed strong roots
in her new "hometown" and has nurtured the business to maintain a "hometown - locally owned" atmosphere.
Connie has donated time and products for many area charitable orgaizations which include the American Heart
Association, United Way, Project Topeka, and a variety of local schools and organizations. She is a board
member of Downtown Topeka, Inc., and a member of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Topeka Tourism
Alliance and a supporter of Visit Topeka! Connie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a minor in
Journalism/Mass Communications from the University of Iowa.
Favorite things to do: Enjoys recreational golf, creating anything new, cooking/baking anything from scratch,

Annie's job is never done! She spends her day sniffing out trouble and making sure all pockets are checked for cookies!
Truly the nose behind the business - Annie graduated at the top of her class - paws down - she has the treat bowl
cornered!
Annie's job responsibilities include: greeting customers, "visiting" with customers as they venture through the store,
running interference with large groups of children during tours and field trips, napping, snacking and the most important
role -- giving folks a way to share their love for animals and release stress through petting and belly scratches (naturally
she is on the receiving end!)
Annie is a local native, adopted by Connie from the Helping Hands Humane Society. Please support the Helping Hands
Humane Society raise vital dollars to build a new facility. Favorite things to do: Going anywhere in the car, trying new dog
treats, taking walks, and going to the bark park. Email Annie at: annie@marionlanecandles.com

Marion Lane Candles™ candles began like many candle companies across the country, a home-based business. What began as a hobby,
quickly turned into an obsession to create the ultimate candle with superior scent throw, larger melt pool, less sooting, and extended burn
times.
After 18 months and almost 500 pounds of wax and fragrance oil, the Marion Lane Candles™ wax formula was perfected. Many hours of
research and intensive testing proved the above obsession successful. With an interest in the community, we actively sought a permanent
location in the downtown area where Marion Lane Candles™ could be crafted and sold.
Our first downtown location was chosen and our 1,500 sq. ft. retail store front opened on March 17, 2004. After continued growth Marion Lane
Candles sought a larger space to offer a wider selection of products and offer tours, classes and wholesale supplies. Another downtown
location was chosen in May of 2007 to expand the business with over 6,300 sq. ft. of retail, manufacturing and educational opportunities.
We continue to see an increase in product awareness and consumer loyalty. We represent our local community with great pride, and our
community continues to support us by choosing our superior product. And, even though we aspire to have national market place presence,
our small-town, locally owned company will continue to provide excellence in quality and home-grown appeal across the country.
